The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shot another journalist this week in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian journalist Salma al-Qadoumi was shot in the back while documenting IDF attacks on civilian areas in Khan Younis. She was among a group of other journalists when Israeli tanks with snipers opened fire on them. Al-Qadoumi was taken to the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah for treatment.
Since the start of the war on Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has killed more than 100 journalists in Gaza.

Those who support these kinds of atrocities insist that Israel has the right to “defend itself” as a biblical mandate, no matter the death toll. Israel itself says it tries to avoid civilian casualties with advanced military precision. Not everyone agrees.
“These are blatant war crimes and they’re getting away with it,” someone on X, formerly Twitter, responded to the above video footage.
“Everyone should condemn this brutality,” wrote another.
The White House, meanwhile, supports the carnage. The cash and weapons continue to flow from the United States Treasury to Tel Aviv where they are being used by Israel to advance the offensive in pursuit of the remaining hostages.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the latest ceasefire talks are “probably the best, maybe the last, opportunity” to seal a deal between Israel and Hamas.
Peace talks continue to languish, though, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel will “remain in the Philadelphi Corridor” indefinitely.
The Philadelphi Corridor represents the entire stretch of land between Gaza and Egypt.
Hamas says it already agreed to a ceasefire agreement proposed by the regime of President Joe Biden “a few months ago,” but that Israel refuses.
“The Israelis have retreated from issues included in Biden’s proposal,” said Osama Hamdan, a senior member of Hamas. “Netanyahu’s talk about agreeing to an updated proposal indicates that the U.S. administration has failed to convince him to accept the previous agreement.”
On X, someone questioned the shooting of al-Qadoumi, claiming that it may have been staged because “why would anyone lay a press jacket on top of someone being treated for a gun wound to the back?” Others disagreed.
“I worry about the remaining journalists in Gaza,” one said.
Netanyahu’s latest statements indicate that Israel under his leadership is not about to accept any ceasefire proposal that would end the war.
It does not appear as though a ceasefire will happen any time soon, based on what the two sides are now saying. So, the fighting will likely continue indefinitely.
They are 10 months into this thing and the only thing Israel seems to have accomplished is bringing lots of death to Gaza’s civilian population.
“He’s hiding behind the Americans,” said Gilad Korngold, 63, whose son Tal Shoham is among the 109 Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza, about Netanyahu and his lack of progress in finding and bringing back the rest of the hostages.
“I don’t understand the Americans. They really need to tell Bibi: Look, we’re your friends and protectors, but you’re going to go free the hostages. This is the time.”
